An alluring contemporary romance novella, For The Boys is the third installment in author BL Mute’s Sugar and Spice series, and an incredible testament of letting go of expectations and submitting to your deepest desires. This was my first time reading something from Mute, and it certainly won’t be my last. The flowing narrative and easy voice in which this tale is told had me thoroughly enthralled – I can’t wait to dive into more.
Nightmare was my first delve into the work of author Bethany Winters, and color me intrigued. Clocking in at 136 pages, this delicious little morsel is Dark Romance with a capital D; a tale of two lovers, who, despite the festering toxicity between them, are made for one another. With a healthy dose of hopeless romanticism, mixed with a plethora of “touch her and I’ll unalive you” vibes, Nightmare is the perfect read if you’re looking for a quick, steamy standalone.
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again…I. LOVE. ANTHOLOGIES. Through the many I’ve read, I’ve been introduced to so many wonderfully talented authors that I may never have heard of otherwise, and A Night of Sin and Corruption is no exception. With seven short stories, each themed after one of the deadly sins, each so very different with their execution and content, I just couldn’t get enough.
Earlier this year I began falling down the Harley Laroux rabbit hole, quickly consuming several of her books, including The Dare, which left me in desperate need for more. Upon hearing we’d be getting more of Jess, Daddy Manson, Lucas, Jason and Vincent, Losers was definitely my most anticipated read of 2022…and now it has become my top read of the year. Any and all expectations I had were thoroughly blown out of the water, and now I’m champing at the bit for Part 2.
In the midst of her life crumbling around her, Bryn receives an all-inclusive trip to Sin City, granted access to its most premiere, opulent hotel, which happens to have a wait-list that spans years. Upon arrival, she catches the eye of a strikingly handsome stranger, and an evening of debauchery ensues. Hey, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Even if that means waking up the morning after not only married, but bound by magic.
Blood and Secrets is a tale of the hunters becoming the hunted, where rules are broken and blood is spilled (and consumed). Two rookie undercover vampire hunters are tasked with gathering intel for the takedown of a massive vampire organization, but nothing goes as planned and they soon find themselves on the run from everyone involved. Forbidden unrequited love, dueling secret societies, and filthy dirty smut, what more could you ask for?
At the heart of this tale lies two souls. Peter, a human searching for his monster, despite the trauma he has endured at the hands of one in the past. And Dante, an incubus seeking his other half after a hunt spanning millennia. Cue the Barista and his matchmaking magic – sparks fly as soon as their eyes meet beneath that obscene Minotaur portrait. And those sparks are fanned into an inferno as the story continues on.
It Was Only a Kiss is one of those books you think you’re prepared for, but you really have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. This is a short novella showcasing a forbidden romance that has been brewing for years and a night of firsts with levels of depravity I never knew I needed. I did. I needed all of it. It’s hot, it’s taboo, it’s absolutely filthy and I loved every second of it. There, I said it.
Bait is the tale of Abigail and Leo, two broken souls seeking light in an all-consuming darkness. It’s a beautiful account of the journey of self discovery, along with the hope that a stranger can aid in mending the broken pieces that lie within. I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into when I began this book, as this is the first that I’ve read by author Jade West, but I can tell you it most definitely won’t be the last. What. A. Story.
The strife of days thought long gone have come back to haunt Elijah Catchings in Chase Bolling’s Urban Erotic Fiction/Thriller novella, The Ballad of Eli. This is the tale of man willing to pay any price to protect and provide for his family, even if it means falling back into the illicit underworld he once left behind…
