A decadent feast for the heart and soul, To Free the Rising Storm is the spellbinding dark romantic fantasy debut from author C.N. Maxwell. Book one of The ReEmergence Chronicles transports readers to a world drenched in history to embark on a journey of profound metamorphosis. Maxwell pens a stunning tale of weathering the storm and being reborn into something…more. Love. Loss. Betrayal. Pain. Family. Fate. It’s dazzling and tragic in equal measure, and one of the best debuts I’ve had the pleasure of reading.

A spellbinding tale of magic, heartache and a love that transcends death, Fractured Shadows is a captivating standalone dark fantasy romance novel from authors K.A. Knight and Kendra Moreno. Readers embark on an arduous journey to heal the fractured land, in turn restoring the peace amongst all. This was my why choose monster story, as well as my first read from Moreno, and I immediately developed an overwhelming craving for more.
A revolution only needs one single spark, and Mercy Madness is that glowing ember in a sea of darkness. Well…what to say about this book? While Spark of Madness was a shattering tale of rebellion, Blaze of Misery is a masterpiece of awakening. A pariah with the greatest conviction, a child with untold strength, a warden with a foretold future, but one he no longer seeks, and men blinded by the fanatical edicts set by those that came before, this book is dark romance at its finest, a downward spiral into doubt and an divine ascent to revelation.
Nightmare was my first delve into the work of author Bethany Winters, and color me intrigued. Clocking in at 136 pages, this delicious little morsel is Dark Romance with a capital D; a tale of two lovers, who, despite the festering toxicity between them, are made for one another. With a healthy dose of hopeless romanticism, mixed with a plethora of “touch her and I’ll unalive you” vibes, Nightmare is the perfect read if you’re looking for a quick, steamy standalone.
Edgy and twisted, Natural Born Sinners is a gripping gothic occult fiction novel, with splashes of cosmic horror and dark romance. Satanos is a place of immoral release to escape the confines of the “real world”, but tourists always seem to receive more than they bargained for when they arrive upon its sinister shores. A mystifying tale of betrayal and one’s hunt for truth, all laid upon a backdrop of vile worship, this book was a page-turner, and my first read, but certainly not my last, by author J.M. Keep.
Bait is the tale of Abigail and Leo, two broken souls seeking light in an all-consuming darkness. It’s a beautiful account of the journey of self discovery, along with the hope that a stranger can aid in mending the broken pieces that lie within. I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into when I began this book, as this is the first that I’ve read by author Jade West, but I can tell you it most definitely won’t be the last. What. A. Story.
Den of Vipers is a visceral tale of healing and acceptance; one of letting go of the ghosts of the past and embracing what the present has to offer. What begins as a recount of a woman being offered to a crime family in exchange for a debt, blooms into a narrative highlighting the growth of a group of damaged souls surviving and thriving.
Spark of Madness is my first foray into Brynn Ford’s work, and what an introduction it has been! A dystopian tale of indoctrination and rebellion, darrrk (the extra r’s are definitely earned) forbidden romance and utter depravity, book one of the Ember Glen series is one that truly makes its readers uncomfortable…which is probably why I enjoyed it so much.
